My paintings are a combination of acrylic and mixed media. Visually waves of color create an impressionistic and/or expressionistic background that is full of light and movement that often features symbolic characters like white birds or angels.

I start my paintings by grounding myself in the present, before I reach for the paint colors that call for me. Inspired by music, thoughts or other concepts I begin loading my brush with the feelings. I then layer the damp background with fluid paints that mix and flow before I dry brush them to push back or draw forward the lines and shadows that give a sense of depth, movement and contrast. I paint in the details and figurative objects to further emphasize the meaning or context of the piece to finish.

I understand my work as manifestations of self-love and acceptance, that stem from my own experience of freeing myself from captivity, psychological and emotional abuse, and self doubt. They mirror my process of (re-)discovering myself, granting me a new perception of my inner world and the outer world. Ultimately with my art I seek to bring this light healing and empowerment to others.
